Great films I haven't seen

I really think this post will ruin any credibility my previous recommendations had since there are some pretty landmark films I haven't seen. Again I'll go for 5.

1. One flew over the Cuckoos Nest

It appeals but just never got round to it, perhaps a lend/rental in the near future.

2. Rear Window
I know the plot well enough to appreciate the Simpson's parody when Bart breaks his leg & witnesses Flanders "murder" his wife but have never seen the original. Must be good, it's Hitchcock.

3. It's a Wonderful Life
Can't believe this one has slipped me by. Everyone I speak to says this is a great film, some even say it's their favourite. This must be on over Xmas!

4. Citizen Kane
wtf? How come I haven't seen this, I mean it says it's terrific right on the poster. Again I know the twist and am aware of the multitude of parodies out there but haven't seen the original.

5. Life is Beautiful

Bought this as an Xmas present for my parents last year (they asked for it). When I heard the plot I was pretty intrigued. Here is the synopsis from imbd...

In 1930s Italy, a carefree Jewish book keeper named Guido starts a fairy tale life by courting and marrying a lovely woman from a nearby city. Guido and his wife have a son and live happily together until the occupation of Italy by German forces. In an attempt to hold his family together and help his son survive the horrors of a Jewish Concentration Camp, Guido imagines that the Holocaust is a game and that the grand prize for winning is a tank.

While it sounds quite harrowing it is apparently pretty funny and a touching tale of a fathers devotion
Might get them to dig it out on boxing day when we are too stuffed to move.
